Next gig: Jamie Brownfield Quartet – Saturday 2 March

‘Jazz in Hornby’ – Up Date

“Happy New Year”!

Thank to everyone who came to see CDF; three astonishing talents, Dave Minshull, drums & percussion and Frank Flynn, keyboard; two veterans plus the the youthful Chris Hodder on bass guitar and classical guitar. These three have been playing together for eight years, and it showed, the rapport was awesome. We started with “A Train” with licks never thought of by the Duke or Billy Strayhorn, and finished with an exploration, dismantling, and reassembly, of the Beatles “Can`t Buy Me Love”; swinging like mad. In between lots of excitement, including “Morning Dance` by Spiro Gyra and classical guitar solos by Chris one of which was “Cavatina”. I`m already planning for the return of these wonderful musicians.

`Next gig is on Saturday 2nd of March when we will be host to a return visit by the Jamie Brownfield Quartet, Jamie on trumpet, with Tom Kincaid, piano, Ed` Harrison, double bass, and Jack Cotterill on drums. The music we`re promised is `New Orleans Street Beat, Swing and Reggae`. I`m sure, as per last time they came we are in for some great music.

Usual venue, The Village Institute, Main Street, (A683) Hornby LA2 8JR. Doors & bar open at 7.30, music from 8 p.m.
Tickets £12, on the door, or ring 015242 22227

Hope to see you there.
