Hornby Bowling Club

Nestled in the picturesque village of Hornby is the oasis that is Hornby Crown Green Bowling Club.  Established over 100 years ago it provides excellent facilities for the villagers and wider Lune Valley and Lancaster and Morecambe communities.

The Club boasts two teams in the Lancaster and Morecambe evening leagues;  a ladies team in the Lancaster and Morecambe Ladies League and also two Vets teams in the Lancaster and District Veterans Bowling League.  If that is not enough the Club also participates in friendly fixtures with other clubs in the North Lancashire and North Yorkshire areas. We also welcome those looking for friendship, a cup of tea and a bit of light exercise.

The Club currently has upwards of 50 members but is always on the lookout for new blood.  In particular it is keen to try to encourage the younger age group to join and experience the sport.  The Club has sets of junior bowls to aid the development of the junior beginner.  We also have a selection of bowls to loan to adult beginners.

As well as the enjoyment of bowling the Club holds a number of social events in the form of two annual dinners, one held in December and the other in March to coincide with the start of the bowling season.  In addition Club coffee mornings are a regular feature; the social events being held in Hornby Village Institute.

Over the years the Club has also hosted prestigious inter club competitions and events as well as staging competitions within the Club for all Club members.

Informal practice sessions are held on Monday afternoons from 1-30pm onwards and all are welcome whether complete beginner or seasoned campaigner.
